Maintenance Controller

Maintenance Controller Compass Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Northwest Airlines, Inc., is currently seeking a Maintenance Controller. As a startup operation, we have an immediate need for someone with exceptional business judgment and discretion as well as the initiative and competence to make a significant contribution to the organization. Job Purpose Provide technical assistance to mechanics, flight crews, and dispatchers, for any and all problems associated with aircraft delays, repairs or servicing. Coordinate with aircraft maintenance contract companies to insure safe and efficient operation. Coordinate corporate resources to return aircraft to published schedule.Job QualificationsPossess a valid FAA airframe and power plant license. Have minimum 5 years background in aircraft/engines maintenance. Must have regional or mainline aircraft experience. Good communication skills and be able to read and write fluently in the English language.Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Have background in regional or mainline aircraft maintenance. Experience should consist of: formal and informal systems training, maintenance of aircraft and engine systems; troubleshooting; dispatch requirements; tools; ground support equipment; technical reports and forms, manuals, catalogs, and work practices in an actual line or hangar maintenance environment. Should have a good working knowledge of computer based aircraft maintenance tracking systems and Microsoft Office programs. Job ResponsibilitiesMonitoring of the day-to-day operation and handling of aircraft maintenance activities/irregularities in a safe expeditious manner.Make decisions concerning the course of action required to ensure safe, airworthy aircraft in accordance with regulatory requirements.Coordinate the movement and tracking of resources (e.g. parts, tools, manpower and technical data) needed for repair of discrepant aircraft.Coordinate with Maintenance Planners and SOC to ensure optimum fleet utilization while preserving scheduled maintenance requirements.Provide updates to Maintenance Planning regarding aircraft status, parts, and/or manpower requirements so DMIs can be scheduled for correction.Implement any changes to the scheduled workload because of non availability of aircraft, such as Carry Forward, and removal of scheduled WO’s from work packs based on time remaining and PriorityPerform other specific duties as assigned by the Maintenance Operations Manager and as described throughout the GMM.
