Job Summary: The Maintainability Engineer: With minimal supervision, works independently or as a team member and guided by past experience, generates Action Maintenance Program Change Requests to support aircraft (or fleet) schedules. Monitors design changes and performs Maintenance Program Analyses with positive margins for safety while maintaining aircraft reliability, availability, and operational capabilities. Prepares and presents regular Maintainability updates via customer and regulatory meetings. Assumes responsibility for Maintainability projects and issues.Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions: Prepare and conduct Maintenance Program Development Analysis in support of the Company's scheduled maintenance program for existing or future aircraft programs involving maintenance tasks, maintenance skills, manning and documentation procedures, including off-sight presentations/meetings. Examine and summarize Our Client's aircraft records/data to determine the feasibility of incorporating mechanical, materials, and/or procedural advancements that improve aircraft availability or the Technician's ability to perform scheduled or corrective maintenance. Evaluate methods that lead to the reduction of task man-hours and identify needed support equipment to affect maximum aircraft availability with minimum maintenance resources. Preview draft Customer Bulletins and Aircraft Service Changes to determine required Chapter 5 Maintenance Manual follow-on actions. Utilize company and industry resources in developing maintenance practices for Our Client's aircraft. Perform necessary investigation of Operator Requests to determine allowable deviations from their scheduled maintenance programs. Evaluate current maintenance practices or suggestions to determine their feasibility/practicality for application to the Company fleet. Present Maintenance Program changes to the Customer-based boards for review, acceptance and application to fleet inspection schedules. Independently exercise self-policing practices to ensure timely, effective follow-through and close-out of assigned tasks. Inform cognizant individuals of obstacles that hinder a successful conclusion. Develop and maintain project activity matrix. Assist in training efforts of Specialist I in Maintainability functions and processes. Perform dispatch reliability and aircraft availability information review and calculations. Perform other duties as assigned.
