Machine Shop Supervisor
CEi seeks a Machine Shop Supervisor for our Sacramento, CA office. Directs and coordinates activities concerned with machining of tooling and products, utilizing knowledge of technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment. Typical subordinate personnel include programmers, tool crib personnel, machinists, and machine operators. Key Responsibilities Include:· Set, communicate and measure performance standards (volume, quality, dependability, cooperation) of all employees assigned, and retain responsibility for tasks even when delegated. · Train employees on production practices, QMS procedures, and other company practices. May delegate on-the-job training of new hires/transfers to other production staff.· Ensure quality of parts produced. Develop production staff to be quality conscious and accountable for their workmanship.· Ensure compliance with QMS procedures. Evaluate processes and practices for more efficient and effective methods and recommends changes.· Work with Engineering and Quality on process improvements. · Plans and directs programming and machining activities and establishes priorities for jobs in keeping with efficient operations and cost control.· Ensures travelers, time & attendance sheets, shift turnover notes, and scheduling documentation is completed. · Confers with management personnel including Operations, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Human Resources to establish machining standards, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.· Provide direction and priority for tasks to be completed on all shifts.· Coordinates machining activities with sales, procurement, maintenance, and operations. · Analyzes and investigates to determine root causes of nonconformances.· Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate set-up and operating problems and to improve product quality and department efficiency.· Coach and counsel employees on a regular basis to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner and to promote effective communication. Initiate disciplinary actions, evaluate performance, recommend wage actions, and hire new staff.· Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.· Complete all paperwork timely and accurately. Develop production staff so that they complete required paperwork timely and accurately. · Train and ensure that staff follows safety precautions. Use software to enter, monitor and analyze data. Communicate effectively at all levels, both written and verbal.· Will compile, store, and retrieve machining and programming data, using computer.· Ensures that the work area and equipment are kept clean, and that 5S procedures are maintained. Typical Qualifications Include:· 3 years manufacturing management experience. Strong leadership and team building skills.
