The RIMFIRE program provides the Army with a complete Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) on equipment inducted at maintenance facilities. This program is a closed-loop system for identifying and tracking root failure causes and subsequently determining which failures or conditions should be identified as candidates for corrective action. The Reliability Engineer will bring systems engineering discipline, subject matter expertise, reliability engineering expertise, and acquisition or development experience to bear on analysis of conditions and failures discovered during equipment teardowns. Immediate assignments will focus on identification of main drivers of equipment unreliability. This will involve engineering analysis that includes failure analysis, statistical analysis, and trending. The Reliability Engineer must have both a broad view and an in-depth understanding of his/her areas of expertise. The assignments will be dynamic and varied, will require creativity and agility, and will be challenging and visible.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provide support to the RIMFIRE Project in areas such as reliability engineering, statistical analysis, failure analysis, and equipment teardown analysis.2. Serve as Subject Matter Expert in aircraft and propulsion system design, development and analysis for the project team.3. Serve as advisor for equipment inspectors located at maintenance facilities.4. Serve as liaison between customers and software development team. Develop technical requirements and interface documents based on customer defined requirements.5. Work with government engineers to define equipment inspection criteria for inspectors. Develop inspection manuals for inspection teams.QualificationsEducation and/or Experience: A four-year, Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college in an engineering curriculum such as Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Engineering Science, or Applied Mathematics is required. This Junior-level position requires 0 to 5+ years engineering experience. Experience in the following areas is considered a significant plus: Government/DoD contractor experience, experience with statistical software tools, such as Minitab, knowledge of visual basic.net programming, and database design. ASQ certification in Reliability Engineering is a definite plus.Working knowledge of Database software applications, Project Management software, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Statistical Analysis software. (Minitab or WinSmith)It is strongly desired that candidates also meet the following criteria:1. Training and experience in the use of statistical methods is required2. Knowledge of aircraft and propulsion system design, development and analysis is required 3. Knowledge and experience working with databases is required.4. Working knowledge of SQL database queries is desired.5. Experience with root cause failure analysis is required.6.
