ATCOTS: Instructor (Basic Terminal ATC, Academy) ***CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD*** Job Description: RTSC's Training Organization is currently seeking multiple, full time, ATC Basic Terminal training instructors for the FAA Academy located in Oklahoma City, OK. These positions are in support of the FAA Air Traffic Control Optimum Training Solution (ATCOTS) program and will primarily assist in the conduct and administration of Course 50043, Air Traffic Basics (Terminal), and with those portions of Course 50046, Initial Tower Cab Training, which do not involve RADAR. They may also be involved in the conduct of other courses and/or in Instructional Systems Design (ISD) projects. Required Skills: Candidates for these instructor positions must have a minimum of 3 years of CPC/FPL ATCS experience in a civilian ATCT or TRACON or other equivalent civilian facility. This experience must have been at a facility equal to or exceeding either an FAA level III terminal ATC facility or an FAA ATC-7 facility. In addition, candidates for these positions must have held the position of CPC/FPL ATCS or first-level supervisory ATCS within the 5 years preceding proposed appointment under this contract. Other Requirements (Clearance, travel): Certification : Classroom/laboratory instructor trainees must participate in an FAA-approved Instructor Orientation course which will consist of lecture and laboratory exercises. Instructor trainees must achieve passing scores on all written and laboratory exercises included in that portion of a course to which they will be assigned. Trainees must successfully complete both classroom and laboratory certification procedures described below. Classroom Certification : The AMA-513 FAA Manager or his/her designee must observe the instructor trainee for a minimum of 1 hour to determine if the trainee possesses mastery of subject matter and instructional technique. The AMA-513 FAA Manager or his/her designee will document the trainee's performance and notify the contract employee's supervisor and the Contract Officer (CO) of the results of the results . Laboratory Certification : A certified instructor must monitor the instructor trainee's progress. When the contract supervisor deems the trainee qualified for certification, he/she must make that recommendation to the AMA-513 FAA Manager. Upon receiving this recommen­dation, the trainee must demonstrate technical proficiency on all laboratory positions during a series of evaluation scenarios, not to exceed 80 percent complexity and volume. The trainee must also demonstrate an ability to grade the performance of a student in accordance with established standards. The AMA-513 FAA Manager or his/her designee must observe the trainee during these scenarios and document the trainee's performance. The AMA-513 FAA Manager or his/her designee will notify the contract employee's supervisor and the CO of the results. If the AMA-513 FAA Manager or his/her designee finds the trainee deficient and ineligible for certification, the CO will issue a determination to the contractor that the trainee is unsuitable for continuation in this job classification and must be precluded from working in this job classification under this contract. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience: This position will require the candidate to effectively and consistently deliver the highest quality classroom and lab based training to a wide variety of developmental air traffic control students. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent teaching/platform skills and classroom management techniques, a student focused drive for continuous improvement, and strong technical skills with current ATC automation, simulation systems, and ATC procedures. Required Education(including Major): Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or job experience commensurate with the equivalent of a college degree.
