To fuel our growth in IT operations, we need a creative, energetic, action and results oriented, IT support professional. This position reports directly to the Director level.
Position Summary:
The IT Support Engineer is responsible for supporting the company’s heterogeneous computer infrastructure as well as taking special IT-based projects from ‘idea to implementation’. Major areas of responsibility include:
· supporting companywide and user-based “special projects” arising from both internally and customer derived requirements .
· quickly becoming proficient in subject areas as dictated by company needs
· assisting in the support of legacy systems already part of the company’s computing infrastructure
Major Responsibilities:
A successful candidate must have a strong interest in developing creative IT solutions that optimize user and company performance. In particular, we view the following as areas of substantial import:
User Support
· Configure, maintain and support user workstations running Windows XP and Vista as well as various Linux distributions.
· Support user connectivity to network level applications and services.
· The intention of this position is that it will serve as the first point of contact for IT.
Special IT Projects
· Developing and maintaining high performance computing facilities.
· Developing and maintaining novel solutions for high availability and redundancy.
Network Applications
· Build and maintain file services, login services, web services, etc.
· Support remote workplace functionality.

Education and Certifications:
The following represents the desired educational profile for this position:
· A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field is required.
Current environment:
The following represents a portion of our current environment and represents places where we hope to grow our IT expertise:
· Experience with Linux-based clusters.
· Hold and MCTS for Microsoft Exchange and Server is highly desired. Support of computers using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office including: Outlook, Word, and Excel and all additional relevant and required computer hardware and software. Configuration and management of Cisco routers and firewalls (especially VPNs). Configuration management systems (SVN and GIT). Linux-based file servers. Windows-based file servers. Phone systems. Microsoft Exchange Server. Virtualization including VMWare. Remote collaboration tools. NISPOM compliant classified processing systems. Experience with help desk and support ticket management software. Web server administration. Backup management.
Security Requirements:
Because the nature of the work performed by Numerica, all applicants must be capable of obtaining a US Security Clearance. At a minimum, this requires you to be a US citizen and have a background such that a sufficient level of trustworthiness can be established (e.g. clean criminal history, reasonable credit, no use of illegal drugs, etc).
