Health & Welfare Plan Manager Description:Manage the coordination and service from multiple vendors on all health and welfare benefit plans. Provide leadership in research of potential programs, identifying options and implementing solutions relative to the employee health and welfare benefit plans and wellness program relying on the individual's extensive knowledge and experience in the field of employee benefits. Primary liaison with account management team of multiple vendors. Establish positive working environment fostering open communications. Clearly establish expectations for our vendors and monitor performance. Facilitate the Lab's strategic objectives of cross vendor communications creating a cohesive team across vendors to provide a fully integrated program to our staff. Co-chair Laboratory's Health Improvement Committee. Maintain communications with team members, assign tasks, and ensure that committee projects stay on schedule. Coordinate the facilitation of various events and programs. Manage external vendor supporting the work of this committee. Member of Laboratory's Benefit Committee. Fully participate and engage in discussions of the committee, providing in depth industry expertise and exhibiting full understanding of Lab programs. Lead many of the research projects of the Committee, present recommendations, and provide insight on best practice. With the assistance of a financial analyst in the section, monitor plan trends and VEBA trust on an ongoing basis to identify potential areas for concern/improvement and manage the annual renewals. Review all renewals, develop premium-equivalent rates.Stay abreast of regulatory requirements of health and welfare benefits and industry trends. Review plans designs and make recommendations for change consistent with overall strategic objectives of the plans. Act as technical mentor to other members of the section.Assist in the development of communication materials, 5500 preparations, and respond to external surveys on benefits. Respond to DCAA audit requests and support annual financial audits of the plan.Qualifications:Required: Bachelor's degree in HR, business or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum 8 years of experience managing complex health and welfare benefit plans in a corporate, consulting or vendor environment. Strong analytic, problem solving and project management skills required. Demonstrated experience leading significant, complex benefit projects. Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Desired: CEBS/GBP designations strongly desired. Masters degree.
