Group Manager, Windows/Microsoft platforms
This position is located in our VA, Arlington facilityManages the post-deployment engineering support requirements for the TSA ITIP Windows/Microsoft applications environment. These tasks include managing the technical team responsible for supporting these applications. In this role, the incumbent works closely with the Solutions Director and third-party Application developers and owners; and is a visible resource and named Key Personnel. RESPONSIBILITIES • Manages the Windows/Microsoft support group staff in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. • Group Manager provides ongoing, day-day support for deployed user Applications, including upgrades, modifications, break/fix and bug/patches as necessary. • Manages group workflow, identifies and prioritizes daily tasks, performs corrective actions and proactively communicates on-going status to management. • Provides technical expert guidance to Windows support team and manages individual work products and quality • Supervises expansions of team to support future additional needs and requirements. • Conducts necessary technical training for managed employees. • Ensures regular reporting of service performance metrics to management. • Drives continuous improvement of existing IT processes and procedures with respect to service delivery, communicating changes across the IT organization in a proactive manner. • Manages procurement of IT materials and software Requires BA/BS in Computer Science, or Engineering, (and/or equivalent experience) required; Certifications in related areas preferred. • 8+ years of technical experience in Windows/Microsoft support; systems programming and network administration. • Previous experience working with Windows Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange • Experience supporting the following systems a plus: Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server Database Technology, Unix and Linux Operating Systems and Portal and Spam software • Computer System Validation Experience Preferred • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server OS • Ability to define and implement system changes, process/procedures updates • Ability to work with vendors and evaluate technical systems, budgeting and licenses. • Must be highly organized and process and detail oriented • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to successfully interface with users while maintaining a customer service focus. • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with other technical managers and business owners.
