Group Leader, Information Technologist

The Information Technologist (IT) Group Leader is responsible for IT support for the SE Core DVED program. Responsibilities include support and maintenance of the network configuration and compliance to the Information Assurance requirements of the program. The IT Group Leader is responsible for improvement of processes related to core activities of storage and database architecture for the program.  The Group Leader effectively allocates time and resources to meet budget objectives and program priorities in a timely manner. 

 

Qualifications:

· BS degree in computer related curriculum and 6 years network and operating system experience, or AA degree and 10 years experience in Network and operating system design, test and maintenance or equivalent related experience.

· 5 years Supervisory experiences.

· Must have work experience with Windows 2003

· Must have work experience with MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005

· Must have work experience in administering SAN storage (EMC, HP, IMB or HDS)

· Previous experience with a switched fiber network (McData, Brocade or Cisco), to include zoning, lun masking and ACL management

· Experience in U.S. Army Information Assurance – Certification & Accreditation requirements

· Thorough, detailed understanding of operating system, storage, network, security and hardware installation and maintenance procedures and techniques:

· Strong technical and problem solving skills, strong documentation skills

· Team player

· Modeling experience, database optimization and ability to write and interpret complex SQL queries

· TCP/IP, SAN, NAS, ISCSI experience is required

· HBA configuration experience is required

· SAN (preferably EMC) and back-up experience and thorough understanding of large scale storage technology (SAN, NAS, Fiber channel, Tiered storage, zoning, LUNs, security, replication, backup)

· Experience in developing best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying large MS SQL databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, space management, backup and restore, replication management, performance monitoring and tuning.

· Experience in data modeling, database optimization, understanding and implementation of schemas, and the ability to interpret and write complex SQL queries

· Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance

 

Requirements:

· Defines assignments and workload for work team within department and sets priorities.

· Monitors costs, progress and quality of work and determines solutions to problems encountered.

· Answers complex technical questions escalated from team members.

· Performs work of Information Technologist as needed.

· Defines daily Storage Area Network (SAN) activities including management, zoning, provisioning, troubleshooting, documenting and debugging.

· Review and troubleshoot storage arrays, SAN fabric and server storage access.

· Provide status reporting (availability, performance capacity utilization) as required.

· Monitor SQL Server and SAN systems for optimum performance and capacity constraints.

· Define (and maintain) detailed operating and change management procedures for the network, storage and database systems.

· Review and perform storage and database capacity planning.

· Consult with program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to explain problems and recommend changes to programs, servers, communications and network infrastructure.

· Contact software and hardware vendors to request service regarding software and hardware

  failures under maintenance and manage that service.

· Insures adherence to Information Assurance requirements to maintain existing network certifications.
