GO&S IPDS Ops Products Engineer

The Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS) Operations Products Engineer, member of the Ground Operations and Support (GO&S) Integrated Product Team (IPT) for the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) program is responsible for coordinating the development of IDPS standard operating procedures (SOPs) and overseeing the ops products through checkout and validation phases. Specific responsibilities include defining, researching, writing and verifying the SOPs. The Also, provide support in helping to define processes and review deliveries/procedures as the IDPS System is transitioned to Operations. Other duties include assisting with training course development, operations concept development and other duties as assigned by the IDPS Ops Products Lead. Required Skills: - BS in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, Earth Science, Remote Sensing or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience). - 4+ years demonstrated engineering experience with proven track record. -Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with all levels of the organization including other IPTs. - Strong system engineering/analytical/problem solving skills in a team environment. - Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information into understandable pieces . - Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. - Excellent written and communication skills. - Occasional travel required . Qualified candidates will be subject to a background investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship and existing Secret clearance is required. Desired Skills : -Demonstrated self-starter - proactive in determining goals and objectives and pursuing the necessary course of action. -Working knowledge of NPOESS IDPS SIs, especially DQM. -Understanding of NPOESS development and test cycles. - Demonstrated exceptional competence in technical writing. - Experience with operational procedures. -Experience with satellite operations, algorithm development, and data processing. - Experience with training development and execution. -Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Visio, and Excel. -Experience with operating systems (UNIX/LINUX/AIX, Windows). -Experience with a scripting language, (i.e. Perl, Shell). -Familiarity with large-scale data processing systems.
