That's why we're here. GMD Test & Evaluation Engineer 5 Position Description Perform the role of Weapon Test Director as part of the GMD Flight Test Execution Team. Coordinate the Execution activities of Internal and External Assets in support of the Integrated Component Test Campaign leading up to a Flight Test Mission. Develop WTD Checklist, Go/ No Go Criteria, and provide input to other test specific documentation. Support the Test Manager in leading test planning, coordination and execution of GMD Flight Tests. Interact with senior Boeing and non-Boeing entities. Develop new principles, processes, methods, or concepts. Participates in resolving complex problems that require a high level of ingenuity and innovation. Investigates and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Verifies accuracy of results through consultation with other authorities in the field rather than by formal review. Prepare presentations for Senior Management. Ensure crew training through participation in field events and pre-mission activity. Serve as the focal for test execution during final test phases and have/develop knowledgebase to address technical and programmatic issues. Examines numerous potential solutions and evaluates each before accepting any; targets important areas for innovation and develops solutions that address meaningful issues in own work areas and thought the organization.Technical [ + ] Test Conduct Advanced, expert ability to lead a team to conduct a test, compilation of test sequence, monitor progress of the test, and record test activities while being able to accommodate any unforeseen events that occur during the test. [ + ] Test Configuration Control Advanced, expert knowledge of test article/vehicle configuration control procedure required to prepare for a given test. This requires the use of configuration control management process to track and maintain article/vehicle configuration. Advanced, expert ability to configure the test article using test requirements gathered from test plans, government regulations, and safety rules. [ + ] Top-Level (TPD) Advanced, expert knowledge of test program design (TPD) of Systems (aircraft, satellite, etc.), System of Systems, and product (e.g. key tenants of a test program during the program life cycle) and the process of establishing and integrating the TPD within the program master phasing plan via various program and test program review. Generic understanding of various test categories (Environmental, Structural, Mechanical, Aerodynamics, Electrical, software, etc.). This Advanced, expert knowledge includes high-level test SOW (test plans), resources (people, skills, facilities, equipment), sequencing and estimating. Advanced, expert ability to identify the (existing or missing) test processes required to effect a test program based on the unique contracting and teaming relationships that exist on a program. Education and/or Experience Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED. Extensive Travel is required. Position requires US Citizenship.
