That's why we're here. GMD Systems Engr Support Analyst 4/5 Position Description Analyzes complex networks and optimize test message traffic. Responsible for the design optimization, implementation, and troubleshooting of UNIX and Windows platforms, operating environments and complex communication systems. Experience with network protocols (WAN and LAN), UNIX, and Window based systems. Design, install and maintain network and communication equipment used to support simulation labs. Knowledge of CISCO switch configurations, operations and troubleshooting. Understanding of network topologies, protocols, and performance management techniques. Develop engineering processes and procedures and drawing standards. Present engineering changes to a formal board and implement approved changes. Document all designs using formal drawings. Experience with MRB and nonconformance documentation desired. [ + ] Information Technology Fluency Basic - Extensive and specialized ability in the use of personal and network computing hardware and software to maintain and direct project information, such as, statements of work, resource identification and usage, task status, cost estimating and tracking, etc. Extensive and specialized knowledge of processes and tools to maintain, archive, and retrieve digital files. Extensive and specialized ability in constructing/building and providing reports and presentation material as needed for assigned projects. Extensive and specialized knowledge of identifying and gaining approval of testing of established applications to meet project requirements. Preferred -Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources at the business unit level. [ + ] Requirements/Tracing Basic - Extensive, specialized knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle. Preferred -Advanced/expert level of understanding and proficiency in the use of networking computing hardware and software applications. Education and/or Experience Level 4 - Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Level 5 - Bachelor's degree and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
