Field Service Engineer - Lead Planner

The Lead Planner reports directly to the BAV Knox, Perry Planning Office (KPPO) Director.

The Lead Planner is responsible for verifying work specifications in the H/M&E areas, to NAVSEA standards, for assigned jobs as directed by the KPPO Director, in support of the Knox/Perry/Osprey Class Ships in the EN/BAV/NAVSEA FOTS program.

- responsible for supervising the requisitioning of material required to complete authorized work specifications and the trade material required to support all Ras El Tin Navy Shipyard production under the EN/BAV/NAVSEA FOTS program.

- sole supervisor of all KPPO Technical Writers (6 Americans and 10 Egyptians).

The Lead Planner will assign duties as required to the Charleston, SC Technical Writers to support the EN/BAV/NAVSEA FOTS efforts. These duties are not limited to but may include; assigning work specification creations, vendor technical information and source research, material research and procurement, NAVSEA/Shipyard technical reference information (including Ship Alts/Manuals/Procedures etc.) and providing BAV Egypt program historical records.

- responsible for the training of all KPPO Technical Writers and the accuracy of the work specifications they produce and material ordered.

- will supervise the material group, material procurement/material tracking systems and be the technical liaison with the BAV States side procurement personnel.

- responsible for obtaining all technical references and answers to all technical questions that arise during the execution of the EN/BAV/NAVSEA FOTS program. Proprietary technical information will be requested through the chain of command to States Side sources.

- will ensure all KPPO Technical Writers are tracking the performance of assigned work specifications so as not to delay work associated with the EN/BAV/FOTS program.

Must be proficient in the full range of Micro-Soft Office Programs.

Qualifications Required:
For assignment to Egypt, successful candidate must be tolerant of the foreign environment and capable of working effectively and harmoniously with others in that environment. Must be resourceful and able to work around problems such as lack of access when planned, electrical power and compressed air when needed, or personnel when expected. Must be able to work independently without support, many times accomplishing tasks by him/herself. Must agree to work in Egypt for at least one year, as long as performance is satisfactory and the effort continues to be funded, and be willing to stay longer, if offered.

Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
