Equipment Specialist (Armorer)-CASEChenega Advanced Solutions & Engineering, LLC (CASE), a mission-focused defense and government contracting firm is seeking an Equipment Specialist (Armorer) to support our Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) contract in Fort Meade, MD. Job Summary: The Equipment Specialist (Armorer) coordinates and directs the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and alteration of arms, firearms, and equipment, by performing the following duties:Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Individual will serve as an Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) technical expert in the field of firearms technology including optics and other accessories. • Provide instruction on armor-related topics during training courses to AWG personnel. • Perform repairs such as fitting and gauging barrels, adjusting headspace, hand-fitting parts and adjusting sights to specified tolerances. • Perform routine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on AWG unit weapons, accessories and other sensitive items. • Develops policies and procedures for Arms Room operations, and performs other duties as required. • Applies mathematical formulas to compute ballistic performance grafts in order to obtain desired results. • Participates with other Military and Government Agencies in making technical and mechanical analyses or evaluations of newly developed or experimental weapons, body armor and other military equipment. • Researches manuals, articles, guidelines, blueprints and sketches to remain current with technological changes affecting the gunsmith trade. • Performs other related gunsmith duties, as required.• Performs functions as an Armorer to include arms room management, weapons issue, arms room certification and compliance in accordance with AR 385-5 and other appropriate regulations. • Assist in ammunition draw, storage and issue in support of AWG training and assessment courses.• Prepares documents necessary to obtain contracts for the operation, maintenance, repair, and minor construction of the AWG arms room. Assures documentation is complete and accurate. • Submits requests for projects to higher headquarters for approval and funding. Reviews technical documents for project submission. • Develops, implements, maintains, and manages the work order requirements and minor contracting programs. • Provides training and certifies Facility Managers to accomplish minor maintenance and repair using these expedient methods. Monitors funding provided for minor maintenance and repair programs. • Maintains liaison between the AWG and agencies providing support to ensure the arms room and facilities are adequately maintained. • Works closely with budget personnel to ensure adequate funds are programmed into the budget to provide for utilities, custodial services, grounds keeping, maintenance and repair, and establishes priorities for work requests submitted by units supported by the AWG. • Assists the Facilities Manager in operation and maintenance of the AWG Training Facility. Plans and directs comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of the Fort A.P. Hill Asymmetric Warfare Training Facility (AWGTF). • Determines operating and maintenance requirements, forecasts resource requirements, accomplishes programs, and evaluates program effectiveness through inspections, budget controls and management improvement studies.• Performs other duties as assigned.Work entails considerable walking and standing on frequent visits to all facilities in the AWGTF, indoor and outdoor. Maintenance and repair tasks require walking, standing, stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting of items often exceeding 50 pounds.Work is performed in an office setting and in other indoor as well as outdoor locations in visiting the various training and support facilities, and in performing miscellaneous repair and maintenance work. Some areas require protective gear and the observance of special safety precautions.Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent plus six years’ related experience; Associate’s degree plus four years’ related experience; Bachelor’s degree plus two years’ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Security Clearance, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: • DoD Secret Security Clearance required. • Must have valid motor vehicle operator's license.Salary: $80,000-$90,000. Salary is negotiable based upon years of experience, skill sets, level of education and training, as well as location of work site and job title classification.
