AvEl R&O Tucson Site Repair Development Engineer

 

The R&O engineering position will perform an integral technical role for the Tucson Service Center. The position is part of the Global Repair & Overhaul Engineering (GROE) Organization. The position requires a highly motivated individual with the opportunity to exercise their diverse technical and specific product knowledge to define, create and implement: rework, repair and evaluation of Honeywell products. The engineering environment is dynamic, fast paced and allows the individual to interface with all aspects of Honeywell's organization and product life cycle.

 

[1] Site Engineering Support (Primary responsibility): Support, identify and create documentation needed for expanded repairs and test limitsDirect engineering support of daily activity at Tucson Service Center.Eliminate dependency on factory Product Engineering for unit evaluations.Technical support of tooling, test equipment and documentation to effectively troubleshoot and perform repairsIdentify failure trends and support development of permanent solutions for repetitive squawks by drafting Overhaul Repair Instructions (ORIs) and using Global Repair Management System (GRMS)Work with shop technicians to identify repairs, improve bench test capability and create test alternatives

 

[2] Productivity & Cost Reduction [Shared responsibility with the Global R&O Project Engineering team]:

  Actively seek out and identify areas to standardize the repair and test procedures for maximum savings and effectiveness across Service CentersConstant review of remanufacturing process for cost take out and process improvementDevelop and support COE strategies and workscope standards between Service CentersWriting and implementing repair documents (ORIs) that will be used both in the site and across the AvEl business in support of standard work to reduce per part costFacilitate productivity improvement projects that focus on material reduction across all productsIdentify the need for equivalencies and identify possible alternativesIdentify and prioritize shop issues - develop a problem statement for engineering leaders

Position is located in Tucson, AZ

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field

Candidate must be a U.S. Person: Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien, due to program requirements

Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years experience in the Avionics Industry

Knowledge of FAA regulations and requirements/processes on avionics and related software

 

Additional Qualifications:

Understanding of FAR 21 (OEM-Factory) and FAR 145 (Repair Station)

Understanding and compliance to export regulation and ITAR information

Understanding of digital and analog circuitry

Some software programming would be a plus

Interchangeability and Configuration Management of different product configurations

Product test requirements and limitation of test equipment to replicate aircraft
