Location: Orlando, FL 32801 Employment Type: Full Time, Employee Reference Code: 1001140461 Position Summary:   The Engineer Aircraft Support performs aircraft mechanical and structural support, modification engineering and participates in the design, development, and integration of aircraft components through engineering analysis, research and design. The Engineer supports the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) program development and installation and provides sustaining engineering to airline customers.  II.  Essential Functions:   Provides structural engineering support for new installation and line activations of products onto a variety of airframes (25%) Evaluates components and structures of existing installations; recommends and implements product/installation improvements (25%) Develops engineering design and processes for evolving products (10%) Generates engineering installation and fabrication drawing in support of product integration (10%) Creates, reviews, and revises work instruction to transition designs into the installation environment (10%) Provides structural analysis for current and future modifications (10%) Supports STC certification efforts for products and installation designs (10%)  III. Interactions:  Supervision Received:   Â· Plans and carries out work assignments; resolves most conflicts which arise; coordinates work with others as necessary; interprets policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives.  Keeps Teamleader informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications Supervisory Duties:    No supervisory responsibility but is responsible for managing a specific function  IV.  Minimum Qualifications:  Â· High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma required· B.S. degree in Structures or Aeronautical Engineering required or 8 years of directly related experience · Minimum of five (5) years experience in the aviation industry in the role of supporting maintenance and installation issues for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 21 and 145 activities· Minimum of five (5) years experience working with aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documentation including repair development and system integration, working with appropriate FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs), and an understanding of aircraft structures and electrical systems, required· Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally· Valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States· Regular attendance is required· Must have a positive attitude· Must be well groomed and maintain a professional appearance· Must be legally authorized to work in the country in which the position is located· Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a record that meets our parent company’s (JetBlue Airways) insurance standards · Must pass 10 year background check and drug test  V.  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   Proficient with Microsoft Word, excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer AutoCAD proficiency a plus, must have basic user skill Knowledge of OEM Documentation, including but not limited to Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPC) and Structural Repair Manuals (SRM) Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) governing aircraft certification Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written Must have the ability to interact with a wide range of customer groups, both internal and external Must be able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner Previous aircraft modification and repair design experience Ability to prioritize workload Ability to work in a team environment  VI.  Working Conditions: Equipment:  Â· In this position it will be required to operate a variety of general business machines and equipment. Work Environment:  Â· Normal office, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, additionally time will be spent in hangar, shop and line environment. · Work shifts may vary – flexibility required - irregular work shifts and on-call.· Must be able to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency· Must be willing to travel on a regular basis both domestically as well as internationally
