EVA Operations Engineer
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED YOU MUST APPLY ONLINE AT www.saic.com/career, and reference job # 124420.JOB DESCRIPTION: Perform extravehicular activity (EVA) operational risk assessments on all assigned flight/training activities through the design cycle to assure that EVA task can be safety performed to ensure mission cusses. Task includes the following activities: 1. EVA Certification of Flight Readiness endorsement verification. 2. Development of the Operational Risk Assessment Executive Summary Report (ORAESR) product which formally documents ops hazards assessment. 3. Provide real-time Mission Evaluation Room technical expertise in response to CHIT's, inflight investigations (IFI's) and inflight anomalies (IFA's) and Anomaly Resolution Teams. 4. Flight Rules and Crew Procedure assessment approval. 5. Verify and assure flight hardware is operated within design certification limits. 6. Perform safety analyses and assessment of all International Space Station (ISS) and Space Shuttle Program (SSP) hazard analysis/reports to ensure all EVA hazards, causes and controls are identified and verified. 7. Perform evaluation of all safety non-compliance reports for acceptable level of risk disposition of proposed controls and workarounds. 8. Participate in preliminary design reviews (PDR's), critical design reviews (CDR's), design certification review (DCR), flight operations review (FOR), integrated products teams (IPT's), safety review panel (SRP), and payload safety review panel (PSRP) to review and assess hardware design packages for safety requirements compliance. 9. Represent NA and XA in all management forums related to EVA. EDUCATION: BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. A position related Masters degree may be substituted for 2 years experience. REQUIRED SKILLS: Minimum of five (5) years experience with direct EVA experience within NASA. Knowledge of system and hardware design and operations safety requirements. Familiarity with Safety Data Packages. Familiarity of EVA Board and Panel forums. Must be able to qualify for Mission Control Center access. DESIRED SKILLS Possess knowledge of NASA flight operations. Superior (verbal and written) communication skills. Human factors and/or safety engineering is a plus. Mission Evaluation Room (MER) real-time experience. Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL) access is a plus. This position requires successful completion of a government background check.
