Join GDAIS, an organization with a long-standing reputation as a leader within the defense industry and over 70 locations nationwide.Broad FunctionResponsible for producing new or revised drawings of complex components or devices, parts lists, diagrams, and other related documents that are accurate, adequate and legible.Responsible for the interpretation of general instructions (layouts, sketches, notes, etc.) of supervision, designers and/or engineers where a thorough knowledge of drafting practices and an up-to-date working knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and practices is needed.Assignments must be accomplished in a timely manner with little direction.It is expected that a person of this classification perform work of other classifications on an occasional basis for purposes of future growth.Principal Responsibilities1. Analyzes, interprets and coordinates the design and job requirements based on information received and current standards.2. Determines the size and arrangement of the drawing required through existing information (ex. marked up prints, sketch, etc.).3. Prepares accurate, complete legible drawings that meet documentation specifications.4. Analyzes and applies tolerances and fits and clearances in accordance with ANSI Y14.5 and department standards to ensure that the product meets the design criterion.5. Identitys and anticipates problems and generates solutions.6. Prepares accurate and complete concept and/or detail layouts for new and previous designs with minimal direction.7. Occasional checking of others work above / below classification.8. Maintains information in job folder to efficiently and effectively complete job.9. Evaluate suggested changes offered by others. Incorporate into design as appropriate.10. Apply current manufacturing processes and practices, drafting and CAD standards and program requirements.11. Provide estimates of time required to complete assigned work. Plan assigned work to support schedules.12. Mentor, Provide leadership and set an example for all within the department.13. Accomplishes responsibilities while being cognizant of and adherent to the Department's compliance procedures.14. Efficient utilization of tolerances and processes with a goal to design and produce the least costly, highest quality design possible.15. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and practices, drafting and CAD standards and program requirements and ability to apply that knowledge in the design creation.16. Coordinate the exchange of information between manufacturing, quality, drafting, and engineering.17. Develops internal drafting schedules to meet program milestones. Plan and assign work to drive schedules to closure.Drafting Relationship. 1. Cooperate and utilize the knowledge of others to enhance a team environment, productivity and cost effective designs.2. Advise supervisor/managers on such matters as:a. Requests by engineering or other personnel which vary from standard procedure or are in any way controversial.b. Any anticipated delay in meeting schedules with reasons and recommended action.c. Any significant errors, problems, or complaints.3. Within Department or Plant:a.
