Design Engineer for Growing, Dynamic Armor Defense Firm

Join a dynamic defense firm in Cleveland, Ohio that has been growing at an annual rate of more than 40% in personnel.  The company is seeking to expand their highly skilled upper leveled staff with the best talent available.  The defense industry has historically been stable and a proven forerunner in cutting edge technology and career advancement.  TES, Inc. is searching for a promotable individual who has a composite armor and defense background in design engineering for a manufacturing facility. As the Design Engineer, you will be responsible to review customer engineering drawing requirements including associated specifications, identify and resolve incomplete or obsolete technical data issues, plan, coordinate, and execute pilot and production runs in coordination with operations. Additionally, the successful candidate will ensure product manufacturability, quality, cost, and operating requirements are successfully executed. Your duties will also include manage and coordinate first article inspection, qualification and certification processes, as well as interface with procurement organization personnel. Main Duties Include:  Responsibility for your own projects. Design and integration of arming solutions. Coordination with business development, project management, and operations departments on a daily basis. Travel is required.  Qualifications: Thorough understanding and experience working with military hardware manufacturing, mil specs, quality assurance provisions and government contracting compliance criteria. Shall have an understanding of armor materials. Manufacturing engineering, design engineering or design-to-manufacturing transition experience in a mil-spec manufacturing environment is desired. Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, technical manuals and documentation, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance. Strong communication skills are required with the ability to work with both manufacturing suppliers and customers. Working knowledge of standard 3D modeling using AutoCAD and Microsoft business programs including Word, Excel and web-based applications. Bachelors degree in Engineering is required. Must have knowledge of composite materials. 5+ years of part-level design and manufacturing related experience.
