DESIGN ENGINEER SR

Demonstrated experience and understanding of general source control concepts: branching, merging, and integration. Experience with IBM Rationale products (ClearCase, ClearQuest) required.The Configuration Management Support Specialist will provide support across engineering disciplines (Systems, Hardware and Software) to establish and maintain productivity by driving the code management, build and release infrastructure. Responsibilities include:1. Help enforce policies for managing source code within a code management system, including branching and merging policies to support parallel development of several components. 2. Work closely with Project Management, Engineering, and Logistics teams to ensure their needs are met with regard to the evolution of the architecture, patch releases, product releases. a. Manage and track multiple releases and projects simultaneously. b. Coordinate software release activities between multiple development groups. c. Coordinate with PMO, Engineering, and Logistics in preparation for releases and roll-back plans.3. Maintain and administer the source control repository. a. Develop tools to facilitate the tracking of features, bugs, and releases. b. Develop tools to facilitate developer's working with and extracting information from source control repository.4. Design and maintain an automated environment for producing regular builds of a suite of products utilizing Java, C/C++, and other technologies. 5. Design, implementation, and management of build and deployment automation. a. Integrate the build infrastructure with automated tools to enforce code quality as well as automated tests.6. Monitor the automated build process to ensure correct build execution, and facilitate resolution of build failures by Engineering. 7. Collect metrics. 8. Documentation of build, release, development tools, operation tools and installation procedures. 1. Strong background in configuration management to enhance our existing processes in an effort to maintain our software configuration management systems.2. Demonstrated experience with, and understanding of, general source control concepts: branching, merging, and integration. Experience with IBM Rational ClearCase is preferred. 3. Proficiency with the following computer operating systems: UNIX, Windows, and Linux.4. Proficiency with Perl, Unix C Shell, compiling and debugging builds for C/C++/java applications is required. 5. Knowledge of scripting languages such as bash, csh, ksh, perl, php, and python is required. 6. Knowledge of the following make utilities that automatically build large software applications: omake, gmake, and clearmake is required.7. Knowledge of IBM Rational's bug tracking system, ClearQuest. 8. Experience with automating builds on Unix, Windows and Linux platforms is preferred. 9. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 10. Clear communication style with an emphasis on simplification, maintainability and extensibility - all necessary components to support a growing Product Development organization. 11. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks, and communicate effectively with a variety of project teams.12. Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively across the Product Development team. 13. A positive, upbeat attitude, with a dedication to quality.14. Fast learner, able to pick up new ideas and approaches quickly.A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant industry experience is required.
