CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES

The responsibilities of a Customer Service Representative (CSR) consist of a variety of tasks at an airport involving customer contact and operational duties. Assignments may consist of, but are not limited to, work in the following areas: ticket counter including lobby, gate, baggage services, international departures and arrivals, air freight, ramp and cabin service, automated check-in-control, operations center, premium services, red carpet room and customer assistance areas. As described generally below, the position requires a combination of mental and physical capabilities (e.g., pushing, pulling of carts; performs duties in bending, kneeling, walking, standing, squatting and stooping; lifts heavy items up to 70 pounds).

Receiving/delivering air freight shipment weights/dimensionsLoading/stowing & unloading mail/cargo/baggage from conveyor belts, carts, trucks, & aircraftWork in the baggage arrival and Lost and Found areas and be required to lift items up to 70 pounds.Cleaning/vacuuming aircraft interiorsPerforming various aircraft servicing duties: cleaning windshields, fueling, & de-icing functionsPerform aircraft weight/balance calculations, crew dispatching, passenger/ramp planning, & related station operations control tasksAssisting customers with quoting fares/schedulesMaking reservationsIssuing ticketsBaggage check-inFlight check-in/boardingResolving disservice situations Representatives at smaller stations perform all ground support functions including baggage and cargo handling, aircraft dispatching, and other miscellaneous assignments. The work is performed out of doors in all weather conditions, on aircraft ramps and in cargo areas. You will be exposed to high noise levels and may be asked to operate motorized vehicles and equipment.
To accommodate the airport's operations, a wide variety of work shifts are required. Schedules may be bid several times during the year and are awarded according to seniority. Part-time schedules are normally four to six hours per day, 16 to 30 hours per week. The workweek consists of 5 days with two consecutive days off. Days off may rotate weekly or monthly.Much of your work will be done on a computer, requiring some typing ability. You must also have a valid state driver's license, a good driving record and be at least 18 years of age.Starting salary is $9.85 per hour. Salary increases are administered according to the current International Association of Mechanics and Aerospace Workers'/United contract to a maximum of $21.40 per hour. New employees are required to join the union within 90 days of employment. Additionally, permanent employees are eligible for medical, dental and life insurance benefits, as well as flight benefits on the first day of employment.
