Job Description

Controller

Job Summary:

Direct and oversee the financial activities and facilities needs of the corporation including preparation of current financial reports, annual budget, comparisons of actual results to budget and be a team member in the process of forecasts for future business growth.  Advise, supervise and direct the day to day activities of bookkeeping, human resources and purchasing personnel of the Company, and ensure smooth operations of Company facilities.  Responsible as liaison with company's relationship(s) with financial institutions, investors and government agencies as well as the primary liaison with our external CPA firm for financial and tax reporting and planning.  Reports directly to CEO

 

Essential Functions: · Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget and prior years, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization. · Responsible for managing and evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department.   Recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department. · Maintains the company's system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets. · Establishes major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations · Develops and substantiates capital expenditures budgets · Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances · Is responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes · Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary including bank borrowing base and related projections · Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions · Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities · Has the final responsibility for providing effective financial controls for the organization · Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/ regulations; maintains an awareness of new trends and advances in the industry; maintains industry affiliations' attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate · Responsible for the compilation of banking reports including weekly borrowing base · The successful candidate will have successfully managed at least one accounting system conversion

 

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major CPA preferred, commensurate experience considered Proven track record of 5+ years of experience as a controller in a manufacturing environment Demonstrated competence in advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint Command over ERP accounting systems including MAS products Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
