They serve as a primary resource for kaizen team training, and assist plant teams in sustaining gains achieved in continuous Improvement (CI) efforts. The Continuous Improvement Leader also acts as a site contact for overall Lean improvement plan, development and implementation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.• Guides implementation of Lean manufacturing • Coaches plant leadership on the implementation process, project management and on Lean principles and tools. • Lead, train and facilitate Kaizen events and other CI projects throughout the plant. • Follows up on Kaizens and influences behaviors and culture through introduction and development of information boards, visual indicators, hour -by-hour tracking, suggestion systems etc. • Provide employee training and mentoring in Lean manufacturing processes. • Develop training program to meet specific business plan objectives for site. • Prepare training materials (hardcopy and presentation) suitable for specific site training needs. • Serve as kaizen event facilitator for teams. • Develop CI site measurement tracking system with input from all key functions. • Directly support teams through implementation and sustaining stages of CI process. • Constantly promote, educate and instill the culture of waste identification and elimination throughout the plant in manufacturing and support areas. • Create, maintain and refine a Lean toolkit that can include 5S, Kaizen, quick change over, value stream mapping, mistake proofing and line balancing. • Ensure that a control plan based on standard work is in place when improvements are implemented to sustain changes.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES NoneQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering or Operations Management. • 1 to 3 years experience in Lean Manufacturing Development and principles, preferably in a flow environment. • Must possess Six-Sigma Black Belt, experience with implementation and management of formalized CI programs such as Kaizen, Demand Flow and or the Toyota Production System. • Project management experience. • Strong PC and communication skills. • Able to interact effectively with plant leadership (credibility as a coach/mentor). • The use of TAP (Transformation Acceleration Process) tools. LANGUAGE SKILLS Be able to read, write, & understand the English language.
