General Description

Reporting directly to the Purchasing Supervisor, the Buyer is responsible for the management of daily, weekly, and monthly purchasing activities required to meet or exceed production objectives while minimizing costs and inventory levels.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

·        Create and manage Purchase Orders through the MRP system.

·        Negotiate pricing, inventory stocking, service and freight processes with suppliers.

·        Monitor inventory transaction reports, shortage reports, and schedules.

·        Achieve established service level objectives.

·        Actively participate in weekly schedule/part shortage coordination meetings.

·        Provide inventory analysis as required.

·        Help facilitate the successful achievement of new program schedules.

·        Demonstrate ability to train junior associates on inventory control concepts and procedures.

·        Introduce and promote cost reduction plans.

·        Monitor expenditures, prepare reports, and distribute results.

·        Perform other duties as required by the Purchasing Supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications

·        Three to five years professional experience in a purchasing and inventory control environment.

·        Excellent data entry skills with the ability to read engineering drawings and associated documents.

·        Highly proficient and progressive in utilizing various computer software including MRP-type software as well as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

·        Detail oriented, accurate, organized and self motivated with strong analytical comprehension skills.

·        Highly adaptive and flexible to accepting new ideas, people and procedures.

·        Ability to take the lead and work in a self directed work environment.

·        Prior experience in the aviation or aerospace industry is preferred but not required.

·        CPM certification is a plus!
