BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER # 408003

LORD Corporation, a privately held corporation with over $725 million in sales and a leader in the development, manufacture, and marketing of innovative adhesives, coating and motion management products, is looking for a Business Development Manager in the Cary, NC location

 

FUNCTION

Incumbent is responsible for leading the identification, evaluation, and capture of new business opportunities for LORD (outside current strategic concept) within assigned geography and/or industry.  Such new business opportunities will generally be in new market spaces/industries for Lord, will be served with solutions which are built upon Lord core competencies, and which may be acquired/ developed through internal R&D, licensing of technology into or out from LORD, external investments or acquisitions of technology or businesses, or development of strategic alliances.  Emphasis is on meeting Corporate growth objectives and reducing idea-to-revenue cycle time. He/she will be responsible for providing marketing/business leadership and guidance when assigned to be part of a BID team.  Through market research, business analysis and planning, business proposals will be developed which provide market need-based targets which provide direction for technology development plans.  Incumbent may serve as the project leader for BID projects.

He/she is also responsible, as part of the Global Business Development team, to participate in the improvement and management of the LORD Innovation process.

 

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Significant experience (10 years minimum) in business development positions in relevant industries, including leadership roles.  A proven track record of identification, evaluation, and commercialization of new business opportunities.  Fluency in English and other languages relevant to the Regional assignment.  BS/BA (or equivalent) in a relevant field (chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.)  Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, communication, persuasion, influencing, analytical, planning, problem-solving skills.  Solid knowledge of MS Office suite tools.

 

NON-MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

MBA (or equivalent) preferred.  Advanced Technical Degrees (MS, PhD) in relevant field(s).  Sales experience and fluency in languages other than English.  Experience in researching, evaluating and licensing intellectual property
