Architecture - Concept Analyst Systems Engineer - NTC 331 Position Description As a member of the National Team, the candidate will provide Architecture and Concept Analysis expertise to the Concept Engineering Team (DEEC) of the Missile Defense Systems Engineering Team (MDSET). They will interface with several internal and external groups to define BMDS architectures, concepts, and capabilities. They will perform studies and coordinate analyses to develop BMDS capabilities by identifying, defining, analyzing, and documenting system and sub-system concepts, architectures and performance capabilities. They will conduct assessments of architecture alternatives and provide recommendations to the customer. REQUIRED QUALIFACATIONS: Experience in operational, system, and technical architecture analysis and concept development for major RDT&E programs is required. The position requires strong coordination, communication and horizontal integration skills. The person will work individually and as part of a team to develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems. The person must have the skills necessary to help resolve programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost, schedule, and performance of BMDS capabilities. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. [ + ] Systems Trade Studies Basic - Extensive and specialized knowledge of trade study process (e.g., benchmarking, best value). Preferred -Advanced/expert knowledge of design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, equipment, and methods. Education and/or Experience Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 5 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), BMDS related sensors, weapons, and command, control, communications is highly desirable. Familiarity with BMDS related technology and phenomenology is desirable.
