Customers include the worlds militaries as well as system integrators. The need to improve the efficiency of the National Airspace of the United States is highlighted in the press as passengers endure excruciating delays and airlines lose money due to the high cost of fuel. Sensis Corporation is uniquely positioned to develop the technology to improve the efficiency of airport operations. We have the need for junior and mid-level engineers to help in the development of accurate planning tools to attain the needed improvements. You will have the opportunity to travel for conferences and to observe the operation of the airports in the US, for invaluable first-hand experience. You will specifically support the research and development for our AeroBahn product and the development of an airport departure manager for the NYC-area airports.Position Overview:The ideal candidate for this position will support the development and integration of decision support tools and algorithms for airport automation. For example, development is required for algorithms to predict, based on extensive data analysis, aircraft arrival times at runway threshold and aircraft taxi-times on the airport surface. The ideal candidate will be someone that can solve complex problems and is self-motivated, an independent thinker, and detail-oriented.Responsibilities:' Algorithm development, implementation, and validation Programming (Matlab, C++)' Data collection, storage, retrieval, preparation, and reduction' Product support' Technical conference participation and presentations' Database use, management, and design' Documented analysis and report generation Education:BS or MS in operations research, applied mathematics, computer science, engineering (civil/transportation or electrical)Relevant knowledge:' In-depth knowledge of Matlab is required' C++ programming and tool development' Databases' Air traffic control and management domain knowledge' Transportation system modeling and analysis' Statistics coursework and knowledgeExperience:' 0-5 years in an applied academic or commercial research positionSensis provides an excellent working environment offering advancement and professional growth opportunities, competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package.
