As an energetic company with exceptional growth opportunities, MTSI is always seeking and recruiting top quality technical experts. We are currently seeking an Algorithm Development/Transition Engineer for our Huntsville, AL location.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide scientific and technical support by rendering expert opinions, analyses, and recommendations on radar algorithms for tracking, discrimination, and imaging of boost, post-boost, and midcourse target complexes, and algorithms to defeat countermeasures and off-nominal threat complex deployments. Additional subject areas include fusion of radar, ladar, and electro-optical data for increased situational awareness and probability of successful target discrimination; processing control and dynamic hypothesis management algorithms using Bayesian networks and other tools to develop multi-sensor discrimination algorithms for distributed sensor fusion; optimization; feature extraction; and likelihood estimation algorithms. Candidate will be responsible for detailed daily interactions and monitoring of multiple algorithm development programs technical and schedule progress. The candidate will work in a complex and dynamic team environment, often responsible to numerous individuals for multiple topics. Travel is required.
Study existing concepts and systems to identify algorithm concepts applicable for both system upgrades and the development of innovative new capabilities for the far-term. Provide subject matter expertise and conduct analysis to identify, refine, or evaluate advanced algorithm concept initiatives for advanced missile defense tracking and discrimination, data fusion, aimpoint selection, advanced decision theory research and development, threat analysis, and advanced missile defense battle management command and control concepts. Assist in the identification of key research challenges, planning, scheduling, and implementation of out-year development programs which capture new advanced algorithms based on current program schedules, designs and plans.
Perform technical assessments and conduct critical analysis of ongoing research and development projects. Participate in technical program reviews and technical interchange meetings, to include the development of required presentation materials, review of relevant available literature, patents, vendor capabilities, etc., and other functions necessary to maintain and advance Hercules development of key algorithms and concepts.
Ensure the government Integration Manager and Relationship Manager are kept abreast of issues related to development efforts, transition projects, and/or end-users, and assist in resolving any issues. Ensure proper coordination between algorithm developers and end-users. Assist in the technology transition process, working with potential users, to identify candidate algorithms and requirements and to develop effective transition strategies. Provide depth and agility to rapidly provide quality answers. Support the Hercules Directorate in developing, organizing, coordinating and managing MDA technology planning documents and related System Engineering documents involving advanced algorithms.
Required Skills:
· 10 + years general experience, and 5+ years experience with algorithm development, sensor and weapon systems, or technology development programs, preferably related to the Department of Defense. Overall understanding of sensor systems and the Ballistic Missile Defense System.
Educational Requirements: PhD or MS in Engineering or Science.
Clearance Requirements: Secret clearance
