Required Skills: Requires a BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with 10+ years’ experience; an MA/MS degree with 8+ years work experience; or a Ph.D. with 6+ years work experience. Extensive background in the use, selection, procurement, manufacture, and testing/screening of high reliability electronic parts for space-flight applications. Expertise in RF microcircuits. This includes applications, packaging, and reliability limitations. Extensive knowledge of Military specifications of electronic parts. Ability to technically oversee flight electronic parts-related tasks. Substantial ability to multi-task, established track record to meet schedule and work well under pressure. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Extensive knowledge and substantial use of common computer tools. Desired Skills: Substantial experience with and knowledge of electronic components used for space flight projects including requirements definition, procurement testing and qualification. Electronics design and or testing experience required. Software skills with VB, VHDL, Labview, SPICE or related programs. Ability to work well with Cognizant Engineers and Project Managers. Demonstrated ability to meet schedules. Knowledge of NASA and JEDEC specifications of electronic parts.

Will: Work as the Senior Parts Specialist reviewing and approving RF and related electronic parts for all JPL missions. Will review mission and project parts lists and provide risk ratings and approval justifications. Work closely with Project Interface Engineering and Mission Assurance Management personnel to ensure timely review of all project related documentation, including parts lists, waivers, NSPARs, specifications. Act as subject matter expert for electronic parts in RF active and passive parts. Will be required to make proposals for independent research funding in RF device performance and reliability. Provide expertise to COG-E's in selection of devices by continually surveying industry, tracking device features of all vendors and generating device feature comparisons to designers. Serve as a problem solver in device reliability and manufacturing issues. Will design test and qualification plans for devices. Create, promote, and monitor parts technology developments through conference participation, professional communications, and vendor interactions. Proficiently use common computer tools and common office software packages in the management of this task. Plan, place, and technically and programmatically direct purchase orders and contracts for electronic parts and parts services. Occasionally direct cross-project procurement and service activities and report monthly to project and line management. Determine and weigh best pursuit of in-house versus out-of-house service capabilities by forecasting project needs. Will report to the Group Supervisor of the Parts Engineering Group.
