Web Designer!!!! (Graphic Design/Web Page Construction)
Alloy Media + Marketing is a leading media and marketing services company catering to the youth and multicultural audience. Our primary customers are major entertainment, consumer products and technology companies looking to advertise to the youth demographic. We own and operate youth-focused media assets as well as provide promotional and placement agency services to our client base. We are looking to find a Web Designer for our Alloy Education group.Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Technology, the Web Designer designs, produces and maintains various Alloy Education Web sites, and contributes to the overall Alloy Education Web strategy. Responsibilities
The Web Designer uses a combination of graphic design skills and technical knowledge of Web page construction to fulfill several responsibilities:
· Create design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content, for a variety of Web sites.
· Create visual concepts that match the content and the image dictated by business requirements but that fit the company's global image.
· Develop designs that will be attractive to the target user, have a logical navigation system and have all the features required.
· Create and edit images required by Web page designs.
· Build Web sites that are accessible to all groups including those with disabilities.
· Build Web sites using technologies that conform to industry standards.
· Create Web pages using include one or more coding languages, such as hypertext mark-up language (HTML), Javascript, Velocity, php, and Python.
· Digitally optimize images and other media for presentation on the Web.
· Design and produce Flash-based interactive ad units and content features.
· Test Web sites for correct function in different browsers and at different resolutions.
· Perform maintenance and updates to existing Web sites, including content updates, design updates, and error correction.
· Collaborate in a team environment that includes developers, editors, sales and business staff, management, and corporate IT staff.
· Make suggestions for improvements in content, implementation, and technology. Contribute to the overall development of Alloy Education's Web presence and business effectiveness.Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, communications, or other discipline related to the primary responsibilities.
· At least 1-2 years of Web design experience.
· Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, QuarkXpress, and other software required for Web site design, development, and production.
· Advanced knowledge of CSS and implementation of table-less, standards-compliant, and degrading code.
· Superior knowledge of current Web-design trends and techniques, and a strong online portfolio displaying user-centered design.
· Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Javascript, dynamic HTML, DOM, and XHTML.
· Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
· Experience with server side technologies, such as PHP, Velocity, or similar systems.
· Experience with Web database solutions and online database transactions, including user registration and data collection.
· Familiarity with Web architecture.
· High attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creative problem-solving ability.
· Ability to work in a team and to communicate clearly.Examples of Work
