This Vice President of Business Development sole responsibility is business origination for Targetbase’s full range of data-driven marketing solutions from demand generation to initial qualification of prospects through execution of contracts upon conclusion of the sale. This individual will be responsible for selling integrated online and offline data-driven solutions to key decision makers within a defined territory account list.
This is a new business development position which will involve extensive cold calling, networking and aggressive lead follow up. This sales professional will be responsible for developing their own leads and directing inside sales resources, as well as follow up on inbound leads from various sources. In addition, he/she will act as a conduit between the prospect and appropriate support personnel inside Targetbase to identify, organize and focus the resources required to affect the sale.
This individual will also be the prospects primary “trusted advisor” during the sales process. They will be expected to know the customer’s industry, competitive environment, consumer landscape and internal organization in an effort to arrange the best possible Targetbase team and solution. We are looking for strategic thinkers that can combine their direct marketing knowledge with professional sales skills to deliver success for the customer and Targetbase.
Specifically, the VP, Business Development will manage the following:
Completing and managing strategic pursuit plans for prospects in their defined territory
Network within Omnicom agency partners to leverage relationships at targeted pursuit accounts
Developing demand/lead generation programs and prospect profiling utilizing Targetbase inside sales resources.
Perform needs assessments on potential client business and effectively qualify prospects for their ideal fit for Targetbase’s right to win.
Primary leader of all Targetbase resources required to respond to RFIs / RFPs / and proactive proposals
Leader of new business pitch team responsible for leading the sales strategy from initial contact with customer through close of business and hand off to client services
Adherence to Targetbase’s sales methodologies and reporting requirements
Meeting minimum KPI’s for the position to include funnel revenue, call activity and quota attainment. Required Skills

Must be an exceptional communicator with a strong team orientation and a skill for marketing integrated online and offline data-driven solutions to help drive market share and profitability.

The following are personal qualities that will characterize the successful applicant:
Independence: The Vice President of Business Development must have the ability to work on his/her own without constant direction or supervision. He/she must be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic to continually strive to put forth extra effort.
Creativity: The Vice President of Business Development must be able to generate imaginative, innovative solutions that meet the needs of direct to consumer marketers. He/she must be a strategic thinker/solution seller. We don’t typically sell products; we sell integrated solutions that focus on outcomes, not outputs. He/she needs to be able to approach each unique customer situation in different ways using the same tools. Candidate must have the ability to creatively translate how our solutions can impact a prospect’s position in the marketplace.
Tenacity: Given the length of the sales cycle, the Vice President of Business Development must have the fortitude to stay with a position or plan of action until the desired objective (the sale) is achieved or is no longer reasonably attainable. Candidate needs to demonstrate that they’ve managed long sales cycle, complex technical sales involving multiple product groups and divisions (without much formal support).
Resilience: The Vice President of Business Development must remain effective in sales situations with or without immediate success, using both positive and negative outcomes as an incentive to move forward toward fulfilling commitments to Targetbase and achieving personal and team financial goals.
Leadership: The Vice President of Business Development must be able to lead all levels of internal resources to craft the right solution for prospects. This individual will be expected to be a leader in our company and contribute in a significant way to our organizations success in the marketplace.
Required Experience
5-7 years of experience selling data driven direct marketing programs to senior level direct-to-consumer marketing executives. Experience in the Hospitality/Travel/Leisure market is highly desirable.
Client side implementation and direct marketing management is a plus.
Bachelors degree in business or marketing required, MBA a plus.
