ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY announces the position of University Editor reporting to the Director, Public Relations.
The responsibilities of the University Editor include: serving as the institution’s chief editor, ensuring that all publications, including print and electronic, meet the highest standards of quality in terms of editorial content; working with the Director of Public Relations and the Chief Marketing Officer to develop a strategic communications plan aimed at delivering the University’s key messages to both external and internal audiences; participating in the development and execution of the University’s overall communications strategy; serving as editor and coordinating publication of the annual report, alumni magazine, newsletters, and other regular print and web-based publications; working with the PR/marketing staff to develop policies for use of the University’s content management system, and developing guidelines for web content for other University departments and units; developing policies and procedures for the management of the University’s visual and editorial identities and ensuring adherence to these standards in all web and print materials; editing and proofreading news releases, web content and promotional copy as needed; working closely with the Chief Marketing Officer and other PR/marketing staff to ensure that the University’s brand strategy is implemented in all web and print materials; supporting the University marketing communications agency in the development of promotional and advertising materials; contracting with and supervising freelance writers and photographers as needed; and performing related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree required (in journalism, public relations or related field)
· 10+ years of communications, writing, and editing experience.
· Outstanding editorial, project management and communications skills.
· Experience writing and editing content for the web and familiarity with web content management systems.
· Experience working on creative teams.
