Senior Oracle DBA
One of our Clients located in the Detroit Metro Area is currently searching for a Senior Oracle DBA for a Contract to Hire opportunity.
Primary Objective of Position:
Responsible for: Oracle software implementation and upgrades Physical database design and implementation Capacity and performance management Development and implementation of database backup and recovery plans, problem identification and resolution Responsibilities include support of multiple Product versions for both Databases and Internet Application Server environments
Major Areas of Performance:Provide leadership in the use of relational database management systems to application development teams Responsible for obtaining and maintaining knowledge of current trends and directions related to the database management systems and management tools Seek to enhance the database environment by identifying areas of improvement Support for Database design/implementation Create/alter all test and production databases Install/upgrade Oracle software on multiple server environments Work with the programming division to set standards related to the performance of SQL statements Establish table and index storage requirements Create development, test, and QA environments for both database and Internet Application environments Install, upgrade and support the Oracle Internet Application software (Oracle iAS) Proactively monitor and maintain all databases Database backups/recovery Database tuning Database security/use Provide backup support as assigned and/or needed Support and maintain all corporate quality standards, policies, procedures, and work instructions as outlined in the company quality system documentation Ensure customer satisfaction by preventing the occurrences on nonconformaties relating to product, process, and quality systems
Qualifications Required:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Technology Experience with Oracle 9i database, 10g IAS, Oracle RAC, and OWB Minimum of 2 years UNIX experience with HP-UX and Redhat LINUX system administration Experience with managing/monitoring databases, performance tuning, backup and restores Must have "installed" databases, "configured" databases, and be able to create a new database environment. Unix Korn Shell Scripting skills Strong oral and written communications skills, including technical documentation Exposure to web technologies such as J2EE, Java, web services and applications Ability to handle a high pressure work environment
