Senior Director, Brand Communications for Prevention
Prevention is the #1 healthy lifestyle magazine brand and the 9th largest magazine in the nation, with more than 11 million readers. The top online health magazine destination, www.prevention.com has 1.75 million unique visitors each month. Prevention publishes branded books, most recently the top-selling Flat Belly Diet! (www.flatbellydiet.com), special-interest publications (SIPs), bookazines, DVDs, and 15 international editions. We are seeking a Senior Director in our Brand Communications department to join our team!
This position will be responsible for managing and guiding brand communications activities for Prevention magazine. Position reports to Executive Director, Brand Communications. This individual will work with Prevention team and Corporate Management to create, develop and execute strategic communication plans that will support the brand as well as launch and develop emerging platforms through both consumer and trade press. All activities will be coordinated with the overall brand initiatives with oversight by Executive Director.
As it pertains to new platforms, the director will:
-Serve as key strategist on communications matters
-Proactively develop and execute p.r. strategy.
-Work closely with appropriate organizations that can maximize efforts and strategy.
The ideal candidate will have 7-10+ years experience and have demonstrated a record of success in increasingly responsible positions in the area of media relations. Must possess an in-depth knowledge of media in order to recognize elements that can and should be publicized. Experience in health, food, diabetes a plus. Maintain strong relationship with key members of the media in various beats including television producers, ad sales and trades as well as key online/bloggers. Think like a marketing communications strategist and not only possess strong conceptual and writing skills but be able to rely upon market instincts and experience in a dynamic environment to effectively position new brands. Must be a team player that can work in a collaborative, matrix environment with strong communications and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
