Job Description• Comply with all documented standard operating procedures and make regular content contributions to the Computer Room Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
• Comply with all problem management processes and procedures, including managing Remedy service requests, according to established departmental and corporate service levels.
• Comply with all change management processes and procedures, including managing Remedy change requests and overseeing system maintenance activities, according to established departmental and corporate service levels.
• Manage secured access to 3 computing facilities.
• Manage HP Data Protector Tape backup system, tape offsiting procedures, and tape consumption.
• Monitor system operations using available tools including HP Openview.
• Produce department's monthly Enterprise Metrics report in Microsoft Excel according to a standardized format for consumption by senior management.
• Produce clear and concise Shift Turnover Reports according to a standardized format.
• Act as backup to Lead Computer Operator when needed.
• Cross check tape pools before execution.
• Possess general knowledge and awareness of all environmental equipment. This includes, but is not limited to UPS, AC Units and Power Generator
• Provide support and assistance for incoming Help Desk related phone calls when needed.
• Properly communicate all outstanding issues for the Help Desk on a regular basis.
• Have flexibility to work a variety of hours and shifts including providing as needed situational coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be able to work Tuesday through Saturday (1st shift), plus any overtime.
3-5 years of experience in data center operations, with large environment multi-platform experience a plus.
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office productivity tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
• Knowledge of server operating systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows, HP-UX, and Linux).
• Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g. TCP/IP).
• Working knowledge of enterprise backup tools (e.g. HP DataProtector).
• Working knowledge of enterprise monitoring tools (e.g. HP Openview).
• Self-motivated and a fast learner.
• Proven ability to perform tasks independently and within a team structure.
• High School Diploma or its equivalent required; BA/BS in a computer related field preferred
