SQL Server (2005) DBA

Our client in West Chester has an immediate need for a Database Administrator to provide administration services including maintenance to the system, collaboration on development of new applications, and writing SQL/TSQL. Responsibilities include, but are not limited too: · Ability to handle assignments and assume responsibilities at a project level.· Create and populate new database environments; support and troubleshoot existing databases/issues.· Create, revise, and maintain coded database objects including views, triggers and stored procedures. · Work with application developers to design relational database persistence models based on object oriented designs. · Work with ETL developers to design and implement efficient data feed and transform operations. · Assist developers in revising and recoding database objects and in evaluating the performance and efficiency of database code. · Script, develop, and test database jobs and / or data related batch processes. · Analyze and perform advanced administrative tasks to ensure the health of the database.· Analyze and institute safeguards to ensure stable environments. · Recommend and/or implement proactive monitoring mechanisms to ensure highly available, secure and optimally performing database environments. · Perform database tuning and configuration to enhance performance and ensure stability.· Write and maintain operating systems scripts. · Produce and maintain appropriate database design documentation.· Perform advanced database design functions.Required Skills: · Bachelor’s degree including eighteen credits in computer science · Advanced proficiency and at least 3 years dedicated DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Transact SQL (minimum 2 years experience with SQL Server 2005) · Proficiency and at least one year dedicated DBA experience with at least one Unix based SQL product (e.g. Sybase, Oracle) · Proficiency with Unix and Windows operating systemsExperience with Sybase Reflication and ETL tools is a HUGE plus!!!**This is a permanent position.
