SCIENCE WRITER
Qualified Science Writer sought by Chugach Industries, Inc. for the NASA Center for AeroSpace Information (CASI), the primary facility for NASA’s Scientific and Technical Information Program. The CASI facility is located just south of Baltimore in Hanover, Maryland. (Further information regarding CASI and the NASA STI Program is available at http://www.sti.nasa.gov.)
The qualified candidate will work as part of a small team to research, write, and produce NASA’s premier annual publication, Spinoff, which highlights commercialized NASA technologies. Work also includes updating the Spinoff website ( http://www.sti.nasa.gov/tto/) and database; responding to inquiries from the public and news media regarding spinoff technologies; interfacing with a broad audience ranging from NASA scientists and engineers to company executives and marketing/public relations personnel; and performing special projects directed by the NASA HQ Innovative Partnerships Program.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory –
· BA or BS degree, preferably in English, journalism or communications.
· Two years of experience in writing and publication development
· Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to apply these skills in a publishing environment
· Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) skills.
Preferred –
· Familiarity with desktop publishing.
· Four years of experience with technical publications.
Position involves some traveling. Flexible work schedules are available.
