KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Edits copy at early stages of completion for clarity and correctness (grammar, punctuation, spelling, typography, factual accuracy) while respecting the intentions of the copywriter(s), account teams and clients.Checks that copyeditor’s own and others’ changes have been made correctly (check against previous rounds of proofs).Proofs copy at later stages of completion (release to studio, mechanicals, printer’s proof) to ensure changes have been made correctly and no new errors have been introduced, and to make sure printer has used correct file.Ensures those style guidelines are followed by communicating them to Creative and, if necessary, bringing copy in line with style guidelines during the editing and proofing stages.Communicates effectively with Senior Copyeditor and Print Project Management to ensure a smooth workflow/process.Communicates new editing standards to Senior Copyeditor and Director, Print Project Management.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 Bachelor’s degree.2-5 years experience as a proofreader preferably in an agency setting.Knowledge of standard copyediting/proofreading marks.Ability to clearly and legibly mark up hard copy (proofs).Outstanding linguistic and communication skills.Good understanding of direct marketing practices.Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, ability to edit onscreen using the commenting/callout tools.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.Ability to apply various style guides consistently across individual clients’ materials.Ability to work above and beyond the call of duty and provide guidance across departments in a team environment.Excellent organization and prioritization skills and ability to meet high standards for quality and accuracy under tight deadlines.Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.Superior attention to detail.Ability to offer proactive solutions and ensure successful progression without guidance when necessary.Ability to exhibit client service approach with results-driven performance.
