Our client is a Digital Marketing and Media Firm based New York City. This company is growing and now has almost two dozen offices in other countries. They work with blue-chip clients such as Bayer, Audi, MTV, Staples, Shell, and Coca-Cola. This is an opportunity to work with a client that demands progressive and innovative thinking within a challenging business category.
Position
The Media Director will direct the digital team on many Pharmaceutical brands for one of their largest and most important clients. This role requires overseeing online media strategy including emerging media, search, and analytics & reporting while integrating digital thought leadership within the overall communications mix, partnering with offline media teams and creative agencies. The position requires exceptional client services, organizational and tactical skill sets with savvy business acumen and a strong command of digital strategy. Ability to lead, train and mentor junior staff a must.
Responsibilities
Strategic Management
• Concepts, shapes and drives world class media strategies, helping our clients understand how the rapidly changing digital media landscape affects their business and marketing objectives
• Articulates departmental and company views on customer segmentation, channel strategy, media strategy, creative strategy, tactics and execution
• Ability to work and integrate successfully across multiple channels to ensure digital strategy is reflected across all media
• Proactively raises ideas for projects, test scenarios, problematic situations
• Up-to-date knowledge of media marketplace and maintenance of relationships with key outside vendors
Account Management
• Owns and is directly responsible for client relationship management including: scope management, consistent communications and revenue generation opportunities for media capability
• Ensures that the highest quality agency service/work is provided to clients in all key areas (marketing, creative, media, research, reporting and account handling) on an ongoing basis
• Establish and grows a strong relationship with the client through a demonstration of industry knowledge and of the client’s basic business issues
• Acts as primary client contact on project development and execution across multiple agency relationships
• Command of budget allocation process for media and fees across all media platforms; ability to accurately project costs and anticipate the financial results of plan revisions
• Owns the financial management and accounts payable process for the account
People Management
• Maintain necessary involvement as the senior member of each planning team until plans are completed.
• Establishes goals, provides guidance and an appropriate level of feedback on a regular basis to junior-level staff to help staff to succeed and grow
• Nurture the career development of staff by providing meaningful growth and development plans
Qualifications
• Understands clients business, industry, competitors, key drivers, environment, etc.
• Bachelor’s Degree Required, MBA a plus
• A minimum 7-10 years of agency experience including 3-5 years with an interactive agency
• A minimum of 2 years working on the pharmaceutical category
• The ability to understand the client objectives and how they translate into media strategies
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to mentor and train and grow a team into being one cohesive unit
• Must have a proven record of having led full service accounts
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal/managerial skills
• Advanced knowledge of advertising industry and associated cycles
• Advanced knowledge of digital marketing issues and trends
• Preferred candidates will a strong agency background
