Mechanical Engineer.

Job description:

A mechanical engineer to design structural solutions for the production of conceptual renderings created by our award winning in house design team for semi-permanent/ permanent point of purchase displays.  The candidate will work closely with the design team to provide engineered plans and drawings for the estimating, prototyping and production of such display programs. Candidate Profile:  

A self starting and proactive individual with a sound knowledge of the many manufacturing techniques used in today’s modern displays and merchandisers. Including; Metal, aluminum, acrylics, plastics and forming techniques, wood and other media. The candidate would be proficient in Solidworks (or similar program) providing clear and concise detailed drawings for our supplier base. A problem solver with a mindset for cost efficiency, problem solving and the ability to think creatively on their feet.

The ideal candidate would have the following characteristics:

· Minimum 5+ years in Solidworks preferred.

· Minimum 3+ years experience in the point-of-purchase display industry.

· A sound knowledge in the following manufacturing materials and techniques:

o Metal/wire fabrication and finishing.

o Plastic forming and molding including vacuum forming, thermo forming and injection molding.

o Plastic substrates and their respective qualities such as acrylic, Sintra, polycarbonate, styrene etc… and their various applications including C & C routing, die cutting and finishing.

o Wood working, wood laminates, veneers and other finishing.

o A broad knowledge of many other materials as would be used in permanent point of purchase displays.

· A strong understanding of the structural requirements of permanent P-O-P displays intended for 3yrs+ in the retail environment.

· Knowledge and experience with tools and assembling prototype units in the above mentioned materials.

· Knowledge of printing including screen, digital and litho printing would be an advantage.

· Bachelor’s degree- preferred but not mandatory.
