Requirements:

Primary duty is to manage a work group responsible for the preparation and analysis of the company's financial statements and management reports. Ensures the timeliness, integrity and accuracy of the financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Ensures compliance with corporate policy and regulatory requirements. Responsible for the coordination, analysis, and review of all inputs (e.g. journal entries, system interfaces, etc.) into the general ledger as well as the resulting financial statements produced during the monthly accounting close. Manages the accounting staff responsible for coordinating general accounting activities (e.g. accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, project accounting) with BellSouth Affiliate Services Corporation (BASC).

Responsibilities include:
Manages general ledger posting activity by reviewing and approving journal entries (including accruals).
May determine and prepare appropriate journal entries for more complex business activity.
Provides research/recommendations on accounting issues and corporate policy as required and review monthly transactions for proper account classifications.
Supervises and reviews the work products (e.g. journal entries, account reconciliation's) prepared by accounting staff. Ensures all accounts payable activity is processed to BASC on a timely basis.
Manages maintenance activities performed by accounting staff for both Berry (e.g. customer, directory and rate tables) and BASC (e.g. accounting flexfield segments and reporting) systems as wells as the Berry Finance intranet site.
Proactively evaluates existing accounting processes and internal controls with a focus on quality assurance and process improvement.
Routinely recommends and implements process improvements to enhance efficiencies and controls.
Periodically tests (and/or coordinates the testing with internal audit) those controls to ensure compliance with company policies, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, etc.
Performs analytical reviews and analyzes postings to total company financial statements and management reports.
Partners with other accounting departments to continuously improve financial reporting and analysis by line of business and by major customer.
Prepares and/or manages the preparation of analyzes of revenue and expense variances distributed to senior management on a monthly basis and Interacts to explain trends, variances, accounting treatments, etc.
Manages and reviews reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and coordinates reconciliation status reporting with BASC.
Serves as liaison and coordinates activity with internal auditors, external auditors, and others.
Ensure all requests for data are assigned to appropriate staff members and are fulfilled in accordance with required timelines.
Performs other special projects as assigned by senior management.
Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, develops corrective performance plans for subordinate personnel.
Position determines the needs of and supervises the business processes, control environment and systems application resources fro all operational accounting activities, including revenue accounting, customer billing, customer credit and collections, customer service and publisher and other accounts payable performed by Berry Network, Inc.
Position provides analysis of monthly Berry Network, Inc. financial results and forecast updates as requested by A&P affiliate organizations and local senior management.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree with an Accounting Major.
CPA (Ohio) -- inactive
Over twenty years previous financial accounting management experience.
Experience evaluating accounting internal control environments as well as suggesting improvements to those control environments.
Strong team development skills for managing and developing staff.
Ability and initiative to perform detail process reviews in order to develop a thorough understanding of all activities and responsibilities within the department as well as to identify process improvement opportunities
Extraordinary attention to detail and accuracy as well as strong analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel (intermediate), Word, PowerPoint.
