General Market Manager for Tobacco Client- Bar Program

We are currently looking for a General Market Manager for a Tobacco Client to oversee a program in the area.
Program Start Date: September 7, 2008 (Will be contracted right now through 12/31/09)
Mandatory Out of State Training: September 7 - September 13
The General Market Manager (GMM) develops a working knowledge of the local bar universe and determines venues whose populations are appropriate to support the Program. The GMM then establishes a relationship with the venue owners and sells the program into the venue for execution. The GMM must ensure that the scope of the contracted venues is adequate enough to produce the designated name generation goal.
The GMM is responsible for overseeing and managing between 1 and 3 Team Managers (TMs), by providing them with the tools necessary to execute the program efficiently. The GMM should be prepared to assume the duties of the TM in case of emergency or extenuating circumstances.
The GMM is responsible for tracking warehouse inventory. The GMM should reconcile inventory every Monday against the results of the past weekend and the needs for the approaching weekend. The GMM is responsible for the weekly distribution of the appropriate amount of incentive items and uniforms to the TM.
After a Program Night the GMM is responsible for getting the program night status and execution numbers into our system and provide accurate inventory to GMR.
Essential Requirements, Duties and Responsibilities
Qualified GMMs must possess the below key competencies. Skills within the following competencies are crucial to the individual success of the GMM and the program itself.
1. Professional Maturity
• Report directly to the Regional Manager and/or GMR Corporate Staff
• Represent the Program in a professional manner
• Handle market issues quickly and professionally
• Present consistent, clear and accurate records of all field activity to GMR
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement for staff through training and feedback
2. Seasoned Judgment/Decision Making
• Ability to make experienced judgments/decisions based on extensive previous experience
• Generate and consider alternatives before making decisions
3. Ability to Attract and Retain Talent
• Identify and select candidates with superior qualities and characteristics
• Train and manage TMs, Lead Brand Ambassadors and Brand Ambassadors
• Ability to implement tactics to improve employee retention within the region
4. Strategic Thinking/Influencing and Negotiating
• Develop, refine and execute strategic market plans for market execution
• Develop Quarterly Reports that reflect current market status and plans to improve based on those results
• Assign roles to TMs based on strengths and adjust the in-market operating and management model accordingly
5. Team Leadership
• Act as main contact for TM and secondary contact for Brand Ambassadors
• Oversee and manage a team of TMs to ensure that the program is running in accordance with client and program requirements
• Define the roles and individual duties of each TM and Brand Ambassador
• Oversee daily management of operations
• Track the progress of the contracting process
• Track inventory and assist markets with inventory management
6. Drive for Results
Responsible for all market performance
• Conduct program sell-in
• Adhere to all assigned program and market deadlines
• Conduct performance reviews of staff
7. Adaptability
• Support individual market activity and assume TM responsibilities at a moments notice, as needed
• Ability to work nights and weekends
• Possess the ability to change/update/support market plans as program dynamics continually change
8. Superior Execution
• Audit program, Program Nights and inventory on a consistent basis to ensure MSA compliance and effective delivery
• Ensure executed events uphold the highest standards of safety for staff and the general public
Educational/Work Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and related Marketing background/experience. Three years related industry experience
