Director of Communications - Part Time
Director of Communications – Part Time
The Director of Communications develops and sustains a climate of increased media and public awareness, and generates publicity and third party endorsement for the school among its constituencies. The Director of Communication fosters effective communication strategies between the school, it students, the media and other pertinent public entities. The Director of Communications devises strategic public relations plans which provide for local, regional and national collaborations that favorably impact upon the system as a whole.

conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion - is reflected in performing the duties
and responsibilities of this position.
2. Establish and maintain relationships with local and regional media, community and
organization leaders and take the lead in promoting positive coverage of programs, events,
trends and activities. Research, prepare and distribute accurate, timely information; present
accomplishments and opportunities.
3. Support the Presidents’ efforts in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with
government officials and advise the President on issues of sensitivity that generate a negative
or false public perception of the Art Institute of Ohio-Cincinnati, its programs, staff or students.
4. Oversee the development of communications/marketing and collateral information vehicles for
faculty, staff and students in conjunction with appropriate departments, i.e., Student Services,
Human Resources, Admissions and Marketing.
5. Assist departments in review of internal and external publications to ensure quality and
consistency of message and act as liaison between the school and our Business Practices
Committee.
6. Create and maintain a portfolio of student, faculty and alumni success stories for use in
marketing and admissions, posting to the school website and in various publications
and activities.
7. Manage the Event Planning process for the school by ensuring key college and community
events are planned in advance and completed effectively.
Position Specifications:
1. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or Public Relations.
Master’s degree strongly preferred.
2. Three-to-five years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing or a combination.
3. Well developed skills of communication including writing, verbal and presentation skills.
4. Computer literate, marketing-minded, strategic and creative thinker, self-starter, able to
manage multiple projects simultaneously.
5. Ability to communicate and effectively act as a member of a team.
