Director, HR Communications

The director sets strategy, priorities and best practices to deliver superior communications to the HR organization and employees. The director operates as a consultant to HR executives to develop global employee communication plans, executive communication vehicles and overarching message platforms. He or she may also interface with Corporate Communications functions. The Director, HR Communications: · Proactively seeks to understand Abbott's global internal and external communication goals to recommend and implement appropriate communication tactics.· Manages crisis communications and confidential or sensitive organizational issues.· Oversees development of HR Communications team.· Participates with HR Council in development and oversight of global HR Communications to achieve HR long-range plan goals and enhance the employee experience. · Provides senior counsel and oversight to executive communications, talking points, presentations, speeches and other vehicles. · Ensures all HR Communications are consistent and aligned with Abbott's corporate brand identity and strategic directions, business philosophies and general practices.Recommended Development Experiences· Crisis communication leadership· Advisor to of senior management on regular basis· Develop and execute complex and ongoing messaging to support long-term programs· Successfully creating a business case that persuades senior management to support a programQualifications12-15 years experience in corporate communications. Direct experience in staff management, executive communications, and global employee communications required. Must demonstrate ability to deliver strategic counsel that integrates internal/employee communications planning with global business goals to deliver measurable results. Requires outstanding client service skills, as well as superior judgment, diplomacy and poise in counseling executive-level clients. Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism, public relations or other communication related major.
