Responsible for development, implementation and delivery of business intelligence that supports marketing, store operations and merchandise planning.  S/he will provide actionable insight based on detailed analysis, suggest customer segmentation and targeting strategy for marketing campaigns, provide data mining to uncover patterns in customer shopping behavior.  S/he will be working / consulting with marketing to understand their analysis needs.  S/he will also interface with database / technology team to ensure 'cleanliness' of customer database.

Primary Goals % of Time
" Define, design and generate relevant reports/analysis to provide business insight to marketing, merchants and store operations. Perform data mining of transactional (on-line and off-line) data to identify purchase trends and behaviors.  Present findings and actionable recommendation to business managers.  Perform ad hoc queries to support business. 40%
" Create customer segmentation and behavioral models that can be successfully used by marketing and merchants for more effective customer targeting. Create scores and rank customers based on their 'profitability'. 15%
" Work to improve efficiencies in reporting processes and methodologies.  Work with cross-functional team to resolve data discrepancies and system issues.  15%

" Improve utility of customer database by suggesting data enhancements, consolidation / aggregations, process improvement and tool selection  10%
" Provide business requirements for marketing activities to technology and data management / IT teams 10%
" Establish a high performing team.  Motivate team to provide value-added service/analysis that benefits the enterprise 10%

Performance Measures/Outcomes (example: key metrics, turnover, retentions stats, etc.)

" Generate reports, and actionable insight, that is used by business (marketing, store ops) to improve business results
" Delivery of timely and accurate models and model scores.  Development and delivery of customer segmentation per schedule
" Automate code for 'frequently used' reports so as to allow more time for ad hoc / on demand analyses

Skills - use the following categories to detail the skills necessary to be successful in the position.

Knowledge - level of education required, special certifications or licenses BA/BS required in quantitative field (statistics, econometrics, mathematics, etc).  Prefer MS.
Skills - job specific knowledge and abilities, general business acumen, other required skills Detailed knowledge of Direct Marketing fundamentals. Expert Database Marketing skills, with a strong understanding of underlying statistical methods.  Prior experience in response / target modeling, experimental design, clustering / factor analysis techniques.  Must have very strong data mining skills in a large relational database environment. 
Experience - level or related/unrelated work experience, number of years in prior jobs 8-10 years experience in database marketing / crm analytics. Preferably from financial services, telecom or catalog companies.
Competencies - technical or other skills such as position specific software, financial skills, leadership, team building, training Expert skills in SAS and SQL, MS Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Access).  Must be a self-starter, with strong leadership skills and ability to influence people.  Able to think out-of-the box.  Pays attention to details and keeps the 'big picture' in mind.  Must be well organized with strong ability to multi-task and prioritize.
