Desktop Support Manager

The Desktop Support Manager role is to direct, manage, plan and administer the operational and administrative activities of end-to-end user desktop support for Wilen Media.

 Responsibilities

 

Key Functions

· Evaluates business issues, identified and specifies packaged and/or system requirements, implements required software and hardware.

· Collaborates with business area management and staff on the usage of end user computing and network-based PC/Mac workstation systems and hardware, PC/Mac workstation data and systems security, recovery and backup procedures.

· Provides technical support and guidance via desk side activities and presentations, training and documentation.

· Evaluates, maintains, modifies and documents PC/Mac application packages, including remote connectivity products, participates in the testing and evaluation of new PC/Mac packages and applications, implements prototypes and consults with IT management/business on selection of packages and equipment.

· Maintains desktop hardware and software inventory, tracks and reports status on desktop hardware and software life cycles.

· Monitors and tracks operational metrics and trending on all desktop support activities from start to completion.

· Ensures that virus protection signatures are up-to-date and responds to security alerts for emergency deployment.

· Manages software packaging and distribution.

· Manages version control software and assists in code promotion process.

 Position Requirements

 

Formal Education & Certification

· Four-year College degree required in related discipline.

· Certifications: MCSA required; Apple Desktop Service Certification preferred.

 

Knowledge & Experience

· Exceptional knowledge of desktop service delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.

· Hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware.

· 2-5 years in Microsoft Windows desktop support manager role including: Software packaging and distribution, version control and code promotion processes.

· Application and platform experience with: Windows 2000,2003,2007 Server domain & policy administration, Active Directory, Installshield, Symantec Ghost, JAMF Casper Suite, Windows XP/Vista, Mac O/S X 10.4 “Tiger� & 5 “Leopard.�

· 2 years experience in design, configuration and operations of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure preferred, can be VMWare, Citrix or Virtual Iron based.

· Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and QuarkxPress a plus.
