We’re looking for a Database Services Manager for our Reston, VA headquarters. Database Services Manager – Custom AnalyticsLocation: Reston, VA What we do:The Database Services group maintains, administers and enhances database processing and reporting infrastructure supporting multiple business units. The team deploys staff and technical infrastructure to optimize production processes, expand quality reporting practices, and establish efficiencies through continuous automation. This hands-on, software/DB engineering role contributes directly to the company’s success through expertise in data modeling, advanced database programming, and data analysis skills. Qualified individuals will have a solid background in the fundamentals of Data Warehouse Querying, experience in MS SQL Servers, OOPS programming, as well as mastery of SQL programming and relational database design What you’ll do in this role:· Develop and maintain MS-SQL Server database environment supporting client-oriented data production · Drive evolution of database environment including all necessary jobs, packages, scripts, and processes · Lead and participate in database design review sessions.· Design and implement broad automation of current deliverables · Work with the Operations team and the reporting business analyst to implement solid, extensible warehouse models that supports new analytics requirements. Use your skills in schema design and modeling and apply the most relevant techniques to analyze, document, and implement business requirements· Sustained focus on improving performance, scalability and stability of large databases· You will have the opportunity to write and review Stored Procedures and Functions in SQL Server in support of existing/new application infrastructure. Coding for performance and extensibility is the most important element of this responsibility· Job might sometimes require administration of SQL Server Databases What we’ll need you to bring to the company:· Minimum 6 to 8 years of professional experience (Preferably in Information Technology or a Web-related space)· 5+ years of Relational Database Development or Data Modeling experience (Preferably with SQL Server 2005) · Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices · Experience using Windows/DOS scripting to execute scheduled tasks· Significant experience in managing servers in a Windows NT environment including load balancing, user permissions, installing patches and updates, and performance monitoring. · Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards and products as required · Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities · Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering) · Must be able to quickly understand business logic and be able to translate into technical implementation· Solid understanding and working knowledge of Query Optimization techniques. Ability to read through a query plan and optimize code and database structures accordingly. · Experience and familiarity with web-based applications or Experience with Object Oriented application frameworks is a plus (.Net)· Ability to work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment on really interesting problems - Must be able to use sound judgment to develop effective solutions from loosely stated requirements· Experience providing technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to production analysts is nice to have. comScore, Inc.
