Now, increasingly, we operate as TNS - one company with a global presence and a unique range of solutions, making us a leader in the market information industry.This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining all SQL Server databases, provide technical support on aspects of SQL Server databases, including user access, query help, maintenance, management and data manipulation for TNS Provide technical support for SQL server database environments, including testing and installation of DBMS, upgrades & patches. Participate in tool evaluation, integration and support. Monitor the performance of production systems and utilize appropriate tools to identify tuning requirements. Database knowledge (logical and physical design) Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems. Very knowledgeable in installing and maintaining SQL Server active/passive Clusters Very good knowledge of backup and recovery methodologies and technology Experience in installing and supporting SQL Server Cluster – 2000 and 2005 Reporting Services, Analysis Services Oracle database experience a plus. Experience with and other database diagnostic tools. Hands-on experience of database installation, recovery and tuning. Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system. Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning. To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime (both SQL Server and Oracle interface). Responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management. Four year degree in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related degree; Two year degree and or extensive work experience in lieu of 4-year degree.
