Copywriter - Advertising

Job Function

 

Prepares original copy for print/radio or television advertising and supervises the work of assistant copywriter (s). Incumbent reports directly to Creative Director/Associate Creative Director.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Ensures that original copy written by self, or by supervised assistant copywriter (s) meets strategies, objectives, etc, and timetable.

·         Works as a team member, along with the Art Director and assistants in developing concepts/storyboards for presentation to clients.

·         Ensures accuracy of print ad proofs and/or mechanicals.

·         Works with broadcast production, helping to select music/talent, participating when required in bidding process, shoot, editing, and generally participate in the production of ideas.

·         Assists when appropriate in client presentations.

·         Supervises the work of junior copywriter.

 

Qualifications:

 4+ years of experience. 

·         College degree in English/Spanish/Communications or related job experience.

·         Provides showcase portfolio containing strong examples of written work, advertising related idea presentations, and other items which demonstrate good knowledge/command of writing techniques and idea presentation.

·         Thorough understanding of market research techniques and their impact on assignments/clients and understands methodology used in developing print ads and TV commercials.

·         Computer knowledge.

Client contact. Pressure due to deadlines. May be involved in new business.  Other duties as assigned. Fluency in Spanish is required.
