Communications Consultant - LMP

Kaiser Permanente (KP) is actively recruiting for an experienced Communications Consultant for the Labor Management Partnership (LMP) team. This position is based in Oakland and reports to the Director of LMP Communications.The LMP Communications Consultant will provide editorial and production assistance to LMP and Union Coalition staff to ensure high quality, professional implementation of communications programs and projects.The major responsibilities are:1. Provide communications consulting and execution to internal and external clients on LMP and Union Coalition communications programs, projects and tactics. Consulting activity will vary from verbal communications or advice on communications issues to providing written customized communications plans and materials;2. Strategize with clients, write creative briefs, research and analyze information, write and prepare articles, web copy, fliers and brochures, presentations (PowerPoint presentations, speeches and talking points), plan logistics, and manage overall coordination;3. Manage and complete multiple assignments in short time frames and coordinate diverse projects and activities into a cohesive and strategic program for a single client or for a program;4. Acquire the input and resources of other communications staff in the organization to fulfill the objectives of LMP and Union Coalition communication plans and projects on behalf of communications practice leaders clients.Minimum required qualifications to be considered for this position are: - 5+ years of experience working in a complex union or corporate communications environment with demonstrated excellence in developing, implementing and monitoring strategic communications programs; - Ability to coordinate diverse projects and activities into a cohesive and strategic communications program; - Advanced level written and verbal communications skills; - Demonstrated ability to write and produce complex articles, Powerpoint presentations, and web communications, including copy, video and multimedia tools; - Advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes; - Strong project and time management skills; - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a team with professional communicators. - Ability to work in a complex labor-management partnership environment.Corporate and Industry Knowledge: - Strong union knowledge and expertise; - Demonstrated ability to work with top organizational (union, corporate) executives as well as with frontline stewards and union reps.Education/Training - Bachelors degree in Journalism, Communications or related field or equivalent experience; Masters degree preferred.Preferred Work Experience: Direct experience and expertise with unions.
